Flowers 'The Incidence of Light' 2007

Flowers in Ice.

My imagery focuses on finding beauty and artistic expression in the subjects I photograph. I use natural light as far as possible in my work in a very careful and creative way and I see the contrast between the warm colours of the flowers and the cold harsh white of the ice as an important element in each image, it also gives them a dreamy painterly look. Photographing them in ice shows the delicate, translucent beauty of the flowers and highlights their fragile and transient nature.

Finally a quote from Ansel Adams,

“Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art”.

 Enjoy.
